About SusanAs a watercolor artist I truly enjoy creating vibrant, realistic paintings with bold use of color to capture the viewer's attention. I am close to completing a bachelor's degree in Fine Art with a Studio Art concentration. I am constantly striving to grow and my education has really opened my mind to abstract art, allowing me to be more loose and relaxed in my painting style. My art career began on a whim when I took a six-week tole painting class; within six months I was teaching. I studied with national instructors and continued teaching in my home studio for the next ten years. I thoroughly love teaching art and sharing the joy it brings to our lives. I will be teaching in my home studio again once I complete my degree. In the early 90's I took a beginner's drawing class and started down the path to Fine Arts. I was enthralled by the challenge of drawing my own designs to paint. In 1996 I began studying with Fred Wetzel, a renowned conservationist and wildlife artist. As an animal lover and an artist who strives to be stretched, painting wildlife and animals was a natural progression in my journey. I have studied with Fred for two weeks every year since, and take classes with other accomplished artists as time permits. I live with my husband in the beautiful Pennsylvania countryside and am blessed to get daily inspiration for paintings right outside my window. We have a small farm with goats, chickens, guinea hens, rabbits, dogs and cats, and I am always amazed by their behavior as they interact and care for each other. God and the persistence He instilled in me has enabled me to accomplish far more than I ever dreamt possible, and I continue to challenge myself to grow as an artist.
